Municipal Waste Disposal Site Expansion

The Municipality intends to submit an application to the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) for approval of changes at the Landfill Site located at 609 Station Road. The ECA No A362103 approves a total landfill capacity of 154,100 m3. The site is owned and operated by the Municipality and receives waste from within its boundaries. The site is open to the public 7 am to 3 pm Mondays and Saturdays, 9 am to 3 pm Thursdays during the summer, and 8 am to 4 pm Mondays and Saturdays in the winter.

The proposal is to increase the capacity by 40,000 m3 to permit additional operations for an estimated 15 years. The expansion involves waste disposal over the existing landfilling area.
