2) Check the Hastings County GIS
By providing advanced geospatial technologies and information, the County Geographic Information System (GIS) supports important decision-making processes that affect multiple communities and agencies. The County GIS advantageously uses technology to support the County of Hastings community and provides a critical service to many recipients.

6) Speak to the Hastings County Planning Department
Fill out this pre-consultation intake form to provide the county planners with details about your project. Go to their website.
7) Apply for a Safe Entrance Permit
A building permit cannot be issued until there is a safe entrance for the property.
8) Apply for Building Permits (BISB)
A building permit is your formal permission to begin construction or demolition. It means that the Municipality of Marmora and Lake has reviewed the plans for any new structure, addition or renovation. Plans must comply with the Ontario Building Code, local zoning by-laws and other applicable laws and regulations.

Karst Guidance
The Crowe Valley Conservation Authority (CVCA) office has mapping (prepared by the Ontario Geological Survey) which indicates that there is a known presence of karst in this area.
