Mayor's Report for February 20, 2024

February 6th

I presided over the Planning Meeting and the Regular Meeting of Council.

February 7th

I was interviewed by consultants Sense and Nous to provide input for the Hastings Prince Edward Board of Health Tri-Board Merger.

February 8th

I chaired the regular meeting of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish Council.

February 9th

I attended the pancake breakfast at the Community Centre. The Pentecostal Church sponsored the breakfast in support of the Breakfast Program at Marmora Public School and Sacred Heart Separate School. The event was well attended and, on behalf of Council, thank you to the Church members, the businesses for their donations and volunteers who organized and served at the event.

February 10th

I attended the pancake breakfast at the Sacred Heart Church. The Knights of Columbus sponsored that breakfast for parishioners. Thank you to the Knights for a great breakfast.

That afternoon I attended the "sing along" event at the Who NU consignment store downtown Marmora. Jackie Fraser provided entertainment and refreshments were available. Thanks Jackie and the staff for a nice afternoon.

February 13th

I chaired the Tri-Board Merger Meeting attended by the three boards of health.

February 16th

I participated in a Hastings Prince Edward Board of Health virtual meeting with the subcommittee.

Hastings Prince Edward Board of Health arranged for a meeting with the Ombudsman to determine the meeting regulations and procedures for the Tri-Board.

February 17th

I met with Anthony at the Miners Restaurant at his request.

Later, I attended Chris' Live Bait Customer Appreciation Day.

After that I attended the meat roll at the Legion.

February 18th

I attended the Polar Plunge event at Booster Park. Thank you to Ron Fudge for initiating this event in support ·of the Breakfast Club for both the Public School and Sacred Heart School. Our fire department participated in ensuring the safety of the volunteers who did the plunge. Thank you to all participants and the Lions Club for providing hot dogs and refreshments. The costumes, or lack of, were very entertaining. It was one cold day but it was fun and a great display of community spirit.

February 19th

I attended the Family Day activities put on by the Marmora and Lake Business Association and the Lions Club.

February 20th

I attended the Hastings County Planning and Development, and Finance, Property and Personnel Committee Meetings.
